Q. What is the Family Readathon?
The Family Readathon is a motivational literacy program fueled by readers of all ages through the power of reading and reaching out to family and friends for support so that other kids can have their very own books. The Family Readathon is celebrating its 16th year.
Q. When is the Family Readathon?
The reading period of the Family Readathon reading period is from January 22 through February 10, 2021, where Readathoners track minutes read. Registration, Fundraising & Challenges open earlier on November 14th. Check out details for the Book Collage and the Book Spine Poetry .
Q. Who can participate?
Individuals of all ages, families, corporate groups, and civic organizations in Central Texas. Children under 13 must sign up with a parent or caregiver. Teams can be organized by any person 13 and above, and Team Captains can organize multiple teams (we suggest no more than 5 per team). Schools can participate by contacting us directly to create a school home page for their students to participate.
Q. Who can donate?
Anyone may donate in honor of an individual Readathoner, Team, or School. All donations are eligible as charitable contributions as per IRS regulations. Contributions may be made via credit card or check with this form. Checks should be made out to BookSpring and mailed to BookSpring Readathon, 2006 Greenbrook Parkway, Austin, Texas 78723, no later than February 24, 2021 to be counted towards prizes and awards. Proceeds will be shared with The Library Foundation.
Q. How do I make a donation to the Family Readathon?
For your donation to be counted towards prize incentives awarded to Solo Readers and Teams, you must make the donation through their individual giving page. If you cannot find the page, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also ask your reader directly for their dedicated link, which tracks their dollars raised goal, which contributes to the overall Readathon goals.

Q. How will donations be processed?
Each online donation made to the Family Readathon will be processed immediately. You will see BookSpring on your credit card statement. Checks will take 10-14 business days to be processed.
Q. How much of my donation goes to BookSpring and The Library Foundation?
Credit Card processing fees are additional for all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). You are given the option to cover the fees and if you choose this option, 100% of your online charitable gift will benefit The Library Foundation and BookSpring.
Q. Who will receive my contact information?
BookSpring and The Library Foundation will have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities. We will not share your information.

Q. Can I pre-schedule a donation for BookSpring Readathon?

Q. What if I just want to donate to help kids in need?
Donors who would like to support BookSpring and The Library Foundation directly can give in general to the Readathon Fund if they are not supporting a solo reader or team.

Q. Should I report cumulative or incremental minutes read on the Reading Report?
When you report, just put in the minutes read since the last period you or your team entered. We will match you by team name, reader name, and email to make your cumulative individual minutes read results.
